Driving test examiners are due to go on strike next week as a result of a dispute about working hours. Those instructors that are members of the Public and Commercial Services Union will walk out on 19 and 20 November. The Public and Commercial Services union represents 1,600 Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency staff across 360 sites in the UK.

In previous years when such strike action has taken place, students haven't had to contact the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVLA) to rebook their test because of strike action. The agency automatically contacted those who were supposed to have their test within 5-10 working days to give them a new test date. Candidates were also able to change their test date, free of charge if the new assigned date was unsuitable.
